The papers already published by SAGE on what it calls the "effect of ethnicity on outcome after Covid-19" show a significantly higher risk of mortality for black people, though not for Asians (but there is a higher risk of going into intensive care for Asians...
than for white people). What the papers do not discuss is why there is the higher mortality risk for black people - whether they are more likely, for example, to be suffering from relevant co-morbidities (existing serious illnesses like heart disease or diabetes). Let's...
hope the forthcoming government analysis - still promised for later this week - sheds more more light on this
The important question is this: is the higher coronavirus mortality rate among black people largely the consequence of deprivation and inequality?
