I learned an important lesson this week about the emotional and physical toll it takes on Black people to provide free labor explaining to white people how to "do better". I wrote an open letter to my college calling for action to denounce racism on Friday.1/
In the past five days, I have received numerous requests to organize, collaborate, and teach people despite having provided book names and resources they can use to learn how to be antiracist. I am exhausted. Magnify this exhaustion with the trauma and it is unreal. 2/
Please do not ask Black people to guide or teach you how to be a decent human being and do better. It is 2020. There are a plethora of resources available using Google. Be accountable and do better. Read books, listen to podcasts, pay attention, and apologize if you misstep. 3/3
