Zuckerberg on a call with employees now, delivering a justification of the company's policy decisions. He also said the company plans to review and see if policies are in need of changing for the future.

one point Zuckerberg has made pretty stridently throughout the call homes in on how important it is that the video depicting Floyd's death was also posted to Facebook's platform.

That this video, which may be upsetting to some people, also is shared widely and can enact change
have to say, from what me, @sheeraf and @ceciliakang are hearing....this is not going over super well.

Zuckerberg spent probably 20-30 minutes delivering his reasons for the post staying up. now taking pointed and heated questions from employees directly
Woof. intense qutestion from FB employee:

"“Why are the smartest people in the world focused on contorting and twisting our policies to avoid antagonizing trump?”

MZ says hes gotten tons of messages saying they believe FB is doing the right thing, but also they're concerned about how to say that in public without being insensitive.

One Employee expressed similar sentiment on the call. A good amount of FB employees stand by the decision.
Zuckerberg ends call with his core belief that despite making some difficult decisions, "the net impact of the different things we’re doing in the world is positive. I really believe it is," he said.

We'll be updating our story below throughout the day.

i should probably end this thread by noting if any folks want to share their feedback on how you felt the call went, feel free
yep, in my bio and pinned tweet i have contact info, can send signal info too. also secure email = mjisaac@protonmail.com

something adding to the angst inside Facebook right now was pinpointed by MZ himself:

“It felt to me that over the last couple of months there was this brief moment of unity with our response on COVID, where it felt like we were all in this together,” he said on the call.
I think employees were riding high as they cranked out product releases and tried to help amid COVID quarantines.

Now they're back in this position of being reviled for a content decision, and it's very deflating. That seems like a big theme, even Zuckerberg recognizes it.
Here's the final version of our story today on Zuckerberg defending Facebook's position on Trump's posts. More details within, including information on his phone call with Trump.
