As of 6 p.m., a crowd of a couple hundred had assembled at Portland's Pioneer Courthouse Square. A group of apparent medical professionals, many in white coats or scrubs, led the crowd in a long kneel with their right fists raised in the air. (video via @abrookeherbert)
A speaker says many of the people from tonight's demonstration are from OHSU. Signs at Pioneer Courthouse Square include "White Coats for Black Lives." (photo/report via @Jimryan015)
Meanwhile, outside Revolution Hall on the east side of Portland, several thousand people have gathered.
Kelley Butler speaks to reporter @Jimryan015 about why she participated in the #whitecoatsforblacklives demonstration at Portland's Pioneer Courthouse Square:
Outside Revolution Hall, a speaker says, “This protest is not about violence. This is a 100% peaceful protest.” This group is now headed north on 13th to Burnside and the Burnside Bridge. (photo/report via @HaleJamesB)

At 6th and Burnside, protesters part to let a bus through. The driver honked in gratitude and/or solidarity. A protest leader says many bus drivers are people of color, and they’re going to let them through. (reporter/video via @HaleJamesB)
Protesters march along Burnside, toward the bridge. Here they are between 10th and 9th avenues. (video via @sean2m)

From a bit earlier this evening, Myke Tavarres, a former NFL player who joined Colin Kaepernick in sitting out the national anthem (and a Lakeridge High alum), speaks to the crowd in downtown. (video by @Jimryan015)

Update from @Trimet: "TriMet MAX and bus service is now being impacted by demonstrations in Downtown Portland. Shuttle buses will serve MAX riders who need to travel through the impacted area."
The east side and downtown crowds have converged near Pioneer Courthouse Square. "A truly humongous group coming together. The east side group stretches from Pioneer as far as the eye can see on 6th Ave." (report/video via @Jimryan015)
Massive crowd is gathered at Portland's Pioneer Courthouse Square. Chants of "peaceful protest." No uniformed officers have been in sight of our reporters. (photo via @sean2m)
A group of protesters at 4th and Taylor has been approaching and shaking the fence around the Justice Center and surrounding area. Portland Police have declared the group there an unlawful assembly.

The larger gathering at Pioneer Courthouse Square remains peaceful. Meanwhile, around the Justice Center: "Tear gas and flash bangs and suddenly everybody is running. People washing out their eyes in the streets." - via @HaleJamesB
Near 4th and Yamhill: "Leave the area now or you'll be subject to uses of force." Reporters at Pioneer Courthouse Square say things there are still calm. (video via @Jimryan015)
At 3rd and Yamhill, police announce an "unlawful assembly" while the crowd chants “peaceful protest.” The crowd then marched down Yamhill toward police at 2nd, where police used stun grenades (aka flash bangs.) video via @sean2m
Several run-ins between police and protesters along the fenced area downtown. This is the fenced area:

Meanwhile, on the east side, a crowd of protesters has returned outside Revolution Hall near 13th and Stark. (via by @sean2m)
The group that returned to the east side is wrapping up. Speaker says, “Tonight y’all can sleep, but best believe we will be back tomorrow!” They’ll reconvene at Revolution Hall at 6 p.m. (report/video via @HaleJamesB)
Back on the west side: People are dancing on 4th between Salmon and Taylor. (via @Jimryan015)
Just now, @PortlandPolice tweet: "The large crowd remains on SW 4th and Taylor near the fencing surrounding the Justice Center. We appreciate that no one is trying to tamper with the fence. Let's keep this peaceful."
And ... now the police are using tear gas and flash bangs to clear 4th near Taylor. (videos by @Jimryan015)
Portland Police have tweeted, "We have already made multiple arrests and will continue to do so." Says this is now an unlawful assembly.
According to @PortlandPolice, "Demonstrators are throwing projectiles at police--some are coming from up above in a parking garage," and this is what led to the declaration of an unlawful assembly.
Via reporter @Jimryan015 on the scene, "I don’t know exactly what prompted police breaking up the protest group at 4th & Salmon but police seemed to move quickly from there to disperse protesters throughout the area."
