Miyazaki, the producer on MD Mini, was very involved with a lot of Sega 60th projects, most of which have been waylaid by COVID; he wants to come back and do an interview sometime about all the plans they had to cancel

ofc the Game Gear Micro, made in Taiwan, was also affected

where'd the idea come from? the Sega Toys division came up with it last year while discussing ideas for Sega's 60th anniversary celebrations; because Okunari was seated next to some of the ppl involved, he pitched in informally & eventually ended up being transferred to the team
why Game Gear Micro & not Saturn Mini, 32X Mini, etc? this wasn't meant as a successor to MD Mini but as a Sega 60th & GG 30th anniversary product; the idea was to make it in ~6 months but as Okunari brought on MD Mini personnel, M2 for emulation, etc it started taking longer

...so Trǔmp's recent declaration has spurred a ton of really spurious arguments, and because the term's so entrenched in arguments about representation in pop media & whatever else, all the translated "insight" from the outside is coming from the exact tedious jerkoffs u'd expect
it's true of pretty much everything but acutely true here: nobody worth listening to has the luxury or lack of tact to relentlessly propagandise the way these reactionary clowns do day in, day out, and it's understandable but still depressing to see the floor's been ceded to them
