Same CR Das was the inspiration of another nationalist leader Subhash Chandra Bose, when Das died Bose wrote about him that there was no bigger friend of Islam in India than CR Das and that he would happily lay down his life for that. 
Subhash Chandra Bose liked Bahadur Shah Zafar too much and on his tomb he quoted his words where he called his soldiers as "Ghazi". The meaning of the word Ghazi is some Muslim who has slaughtered Kaffirs en masse. Babur and Akbar both took this title.
To boost Hindu-Muslim unity, Subhash Chandra made a hero out of Nawab Siraj-ud-Daula, a rabid Jihadi who used to destroy temples, overturn boats filled with Hindus and get pregnant women cut open. Subhash Chandra Bose made such a person as a freedom fighter !
Subhash Chandra Bose wanted Hindustani (a mixture of Hindi and Urdu) in both Devanagri and Arabic-Persian scripts to be the lingua franca of India. He even suggested using Roman script for this.
Bose and Tagore both removed the portions of Bankim`s legendary Vande Matram which were deemed anti-Muslim by the Muslims to make it a truly nationalist, they both courted huge criticism from Bengal literary circles for doing so.
