@John_Silvia1 @LoganSpena Lots of solutions are being offered. Literally any issue we typically view as being a “police” issue has a wealth of academic discourse arguing for better ways—drugs, school safety, homelessness, even the VAST majority of violent crime.
@John_Silvia1 @LoganSpena Can’t go into it all via Twitter, but start digging around and doing research to learn. The basic premise is that the VAST majority of crime is solved by public strategies that we know actually work, not by sending police.
@John_Silvia1 @LoganSpena Once we fix our social ills, we’ll have a better idea of where public safety force is actually needed, and this public safety force will look nothing like the police force we currently have because they will be completely different things.
