I would be curious to learn how Paul, and people like him, think that the “solution” to civil unrest is “nationalism.” Nationalism begins with a nation... and, well, you’re looking at it! 
Apparently, goofballs like this are *hinting* at the idea of secession. They don’t want to say it, and at some level they recognize that it’s unworkable and would be swiftly and brutally put down by the central government.
But it’s fun to *signal* that you want secession, like indulging in a quaint daydream before you go out waving the flag, claim you’re a proud American who believes in capitalism and individual rights, and vote for Donald Trump.
Whatever you want to say about the grotesque and revoltingly obese Steve Bannon, he at least has a *vision* for squaring the circle. Through tariffs, people of all races, creeds, and sexual orientations will work in coal mines and become proud Americans.
Bannon’s vision is silly; it’s a kind of bourgeois Marxism, but it at least is connected to some a reality beyond signaling on social media.
