@TheBlueGem3 The answer is in your question. Christo-fascist dominionists, far right libertarians and white supremacists make up about 42% of the electorate. That votes. That’s about 1/3 of the population.

Liberals are seeing a resurgence in support. As are all progressives.
@TheBlueGem3 If we want to be rid of UCP, someone smart, flexible, charismatic and resourceful would pull all progressives under one tent. Problem solved.

The problem is, no one wants to be sous chef. Everyone wants to run their own show and be the master chef. Four parties divide the vote.
@TheBlueGem3 Even if one party joined with another, it could be the impetus to get some cooperation and compromise going and get some momentum.

That’s how to defeat UCP. Get the majority of people to block them from power. Give voters two choices, not 5.
@TheBlueGem3 Easier said than done. Power is an addictive drug. People cover and guard their own power base. The ideological divide is what keeps us fighting amongst ourselves.

Handing a win to racists, fundamentalist Christians and greedy robber barons to suck the life out of the province.
@TheBlueGem3 It is the same conundrum as the US presidential election. Biden doesn’t satisfy everybody. Berners are still up in arms about Biden being a centrist.

But if people did work together to determine priorities, policy that represents the entire tent can be enacted in pieces.
@TheBlueGem3 That is democracy. Holding out forb100% or nothing is the problem.

Greens & radical NDP won’t support a slow sunset of oil. Liberals and Alberta Party won’t support an immediate shut down. If they all compromised a little bit, an oil wind down could be arranged, but they don’t.
@TheBlueGem3 Singh and May convinced their supporters and provincial counterparts that PR is the way to go. Well, we have what people would vote for in a PR system. 56% would be split 4 ways and 42% would vote conservative.

Alberta has many NDP voters because Liberals took a holiday.
@TheBlueGem3 But if everyone decided progress was more important than power, NDP, Liberals and Alberta party would combine forces and kick UCP extremists and fascists to the curb and stuff them down the sewer where they belong.

I impatiently wait for those in power to figure this out.
@TheBlueGem3 The numbers are the key to success. The most votes wins. How do you get the most votes? Get a big tent and keep the extremists at the fringes, but listen to their needs at the same time. Teach people how to cooperate for common goals and how to tolerate variances in opinion.
@TheBlueGem3 Sometimes I wish I could be that charismatic leader. But I’m not. I’m too grumpy, unfocused and impatient. My youngest son is one of those leaders, but he’s 11. So, he needs about 30-35 years before he’s ready.

Rachel has baggage and too many supporters who expect socialism.
@TheBlueGem3 David Khan has promise. He’s articulate, intelligent and well liked. Certainly turned my head during campaigning.

If we want change, doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results is crazy. We change or nothing changes.
