ENVIS is a decentralised network of 66 centres of which 31 Centres dealing with 'State of the Environment and Related Issues' are hosted by State Government/UT Administrations called ENVIS Hubs, and remaining 35 Centres are hosted by environment-related governmental and
non-governmental organisations.
The skilling programmes cover diverse fields such as pollution monitoring (air/water/soil), Sewage Treatment Plant, Effluent Treatment Plants and Common Effluent Treating Plants (STP/ETP/CETP) operation, waste management, forest management, water budgeting, auditing.#MyGreenAssam
It also includes conservation of river dolphins, wildlife management, para taxonomy, including Peoples’ Biodiversity Register (PBRs), mangroves conservation, bamboo management and livelihood generation. The duration of the courses ranges from 80 hours to 560 hours approx.
In the first stage a pool of Master Trainers/Specialists is being created, who can further train the youth across the country. All courses will be National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF)compliant. The Ministry will give Certificates indicating the skilling levels to all.

#DoYouKnow in February 2019 the largest cave fish was discovered in Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya it is nearly 5 times the mean length i.e. 400 mm(15.8 inches) in standard length making it, by far, the largest known subterranean fish found to date. #MyGreenAssam #WorldEnvironmentDay
The fish was encountered by a biologist on an expedition, in Meghalaya. There are many caves in the region due to the abundant karst and limestone, which can be carved by rainwater. And there’s a lot of it—the state is one of the rainiest places on Earth. #MyGreenAssam
Meghalaya has an elaborate and extensive network of caves. Several international and Indian researchers have been mapping the caves since 1992 in association with Meghalaya Adventurers Association and the latest find is part of that project. #MyGreenAssam #WorldEnvironmentDay

India used to produce more then 100,000 varieties of rice prior to the green revolution, encompassing a stunning diversity in taste, nutrition, pest-resistance and, crucially in this age of climate change and natural disasters, adaptability to a range of conditions. #MyGreenAssam
Though today much of this biodiversity is irretrievably lost, forced out by the quest for high-yield hybrids and varieties still, a significant number of traditional varieties of rice are still grown by small and marginal farmers across India, where they cater for local consumers
In 2005, a group of 20 tribal women farmers from six villages in Surguja district in India’s central-eastern state of Chhattisgarh, realized the threats to the survival of a traditional rice variety called JeeraPhool, and formed a self-help group to protect and promote it.
