What we should’ve had all along was a robust discussion about what needed to give to allow social distancing & what was a bridge too far.

We didn’t b/c most of the bridges didn’t touch those in power or were bridges occupied by people they disagreed with.

So now we’re stuck here. Everyone now understands that some things are too important.

Good. As well they should.

But we can’t go back to how things were. It was a splapdash and partisan way to address all this. And we need to be more thoughtful about how to move forward.
And it doesn’t help that some, like @GovWhitmer, are nakedly hypocritical on these points.

We can’t move forward without those who led the charge having a mea culpa moment. What they did was unjust, and their actions demonstrate that their opinions have since changed.
I’ve got a longer list on the rest of those who should be preparing apologies, but I won’t pretend to be hopeful.
