We need to learn from the tragedies unfolding at meatpacking plants worldwide.
The first lesson is it's been way too long since Upton Sinclair for us to still be tolerating these working conditions.

This virus isn't omnipotent. It doesn't strike wherever two or more gather. Or even where two thousand or more gather. It seems to spare entire countries from the worst of its effects. But when it finds a scenario it likes, it's nearly unstoppable short of a region-wide lockdown.
And while it's too soon to say anything at this point from a scientific perspective, just as a matter of personal precaution, for the next 12 to 18 months it might not be a terrible idea to develop an aversion to crowded enclosed spaces with recirculated air.
There have been tons of videos taken over the past two months of crowded streets in South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong. But the corresponding infection rates have been negligible, compared to the US.
So basically: wear your fucking masks, people. But don't be afraid to go outside.
