Here's the thing about the phrase "Fox News apologizes..." 
Apologizing is great! I'm all for it.
But inherent in the apology is the idea that you are aware you did something wrong.
And that you'll try to do better the next time.
That's the part that makes people feel better, really --
-- the idea that the apology hints at better things to come.
So when you apologize over and over...
...and over and over...
...and over and over...
...and over and over...
...and over and over...
...and over and over...
...and over and over, for the same shit, people might start to think you're not sincere.
They might, in fact, conclude that you're only apologizing to avoid some kind of big media blow-up, or perhaps even a lawsuit.
And then the apology kind of...loses its impact.
We might start to feel like a sucker, frankly, for accepting your apology. And that's not a good feeling!
Anyway. Thanks for the apology, FOX News. It means a lot.
