It's confirmed. Seattle Police just arrested the man who filmed them macing a little girl last week. I don't believe in coincidences. They are targeting protesters, this is the second in 24 hours. Huge shows of force both times. I would be lying if I said I wasn't terrified.
This is the video of the arrest. 7 squad cars for a man supposedly using a laser pointer. This is really happening. They have gone to war with the people of this city. What the fuck is happening.

These motherfuckers have me scared for my family right now, scared for my children, scared for their future. This is beyond anything I expected... That they're so brazen and bold about it, that they make such a show about it, even though the whole block is filming them.

We have to talk about what happened at the East Precinct today. Not just because a handful of heroes selflessly put themselves in danger to protect their community, but because it is perfectly illustrative why SPD is as dangerous as it is unnecessary.
This morning, Seattle Police erected a "permanent" barricade at 11th & Pine, to replace the one protesters had moved yesterday. If that barricade had worked as intended, it would have held the bulk of crowd in the middle of the intersection all day.
Soon after, some professional stage-workers went to the site, saw how the barricades had been constructed, and realized it had been put together wrong. They tried to warn officers that the construction would likely crush protesters. They were ignored.

As Minneapolis burned last night in response to police murdering George Floyd, Mike Solan, the new head of the Seattle Police union, thought it'd be a good time to go on Ari Hoffman's podcast to publicly complain about people who voted for Shaun Scott in the last election.
For those who aren't familiar with Solan, he stumbled onto the scene last year when he ran for union president, publicly publishing this campaign ad glorifying police abusing protesters. 70% of union members voted to elect him.
The timing is no coincidence, as protests rage across the country. Solan views his position as a PR role, publicly stating on multiple occasions (including his interview last night) that he aims to "take back the narrative" from the "activist class". thecisforcrank.com/2020/01/07/aft…

I don't know how to say this without seeming like a raving alarmist or complete downer, so I'll just come right out and say it: This will not be over soon and we should be prepared for this to go until at least the end of the year.

I know a lot of folks are saying June, and I want nothing more than to be wrong about this, but aside from a vaccine being produced, I don't see how it happens that soon.
Our response is simply too inadequate, the loss of life will be too great, and the virus will almost certainly return in some form to dampen our progress.
