In the queue to audition, I overheard a guy in front of me tell a lady that if she didn't have a western accent chances of her being a presenter was slim. Turned out the same applied for the adverts section. Apparently I couldn't nose a last minute accent to clinch the gig.
We have a rich assortment of discrimination in Kenya. Blacks pander to white folks in cafeterias airports hotels #giraffemanor & many other public places. We get discriminated against by Indians, Arabs both here and when domestic workers seek employment in the middle east.
Our Somali Brothers call us nywele ngumu. There's even religious discrimination on both sides. I heard the word kafir whispered behind my back so many times while I worked in Mombasa I almost thought it was some form of greeting until I was told it's true meaning by my Muslim BFF
I've been cut off from my farm along Bob Harris road due to the #Covid_19 restrictions. My neighbors are now tending to my crops cause there's life after this crisis yet my white neighbors that live a little further away have leeway to move in & out freely @LempaaSuyinka
There's class discrimination. Bigger car/house owners get better treatment. Colorism has become the norm where light skins get doors open faster. We all know tribalism takes the trophy. Unless we call out & fix our house first, we're just proving that black lives don't matter.
