Attorney General Bill Barr appointed a federal prosecutor, John Durham, to look into the origins of the investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Barr met frequently with Durham last year, including 3 times the week the Mueller report was completed.
We FOIA'd directives or guidance given to John Durham about the probe, but DOJ withheld 24 pgs of records, claiming releasing the documents could interfere with DOJ’s ongoing investigation.

But AG Barr regularly talks about the probe publicly.

For example, in April Barr said Durham had found “troubling” problems & gave new details showing Durham’s inquiry was broader than previously known. The NYT reported some defense attorneys thought Barr’s statements were tainting Durham’s work.

Barr discussed Durham’s investigation in an interview with Fox News’s Laura Ingraham. He described DOJ’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election as “one of the greatest travesties in American history.”

He also directly discussed the investigation when he said Durham was “looking to bring to justice people who were engaged in abuses if he can show there were criminal violations.”

In an interview with Hugh Hewitt, Barr once again discussed Durham’s investigation, stating he was “very troubled by” what Durham had found so far.

Before Durham has released any of his findings to the public, Barr has stated that the Russia investigation was “one of the greatest travesties in American history.”

Yet, the DOJ will not publicly release documents related to Durham’s probe because it claims the information could harm the ongoing investigation.
