The NY Times is a propaganda arm of the US national security state; its job is to manufacture consent for US imperialism

In November the NYT supported the US-backed fascist military coup in Bolivia

Now 7 months later it admits the coup was based on a lie
nytimes.com/2020/06/07/wor…
The NY Times printed lies to justify the US govt's fascist military coup in Bolivia, just as it obediently did to justify the invasion of Iraq and CIA coup in Chile in 1973.

Meanwhile groups of real researchers like @CEPRDC showed it was bogus from day 1

At @TheGrayzoneNews, we ran numerous stories immediately after the coup in Bolivia showing extensive links to the US government, Colombia, Brazil, and right-wing Venezuelan opposition.

Meanwhile rags like the NY Times regurgitated lies supporting the coup

This is another example of how in mainstream US corporate media you're only allowed to oppose obvious US-backed fascist coups AFTER they happen

If you oppose US coups before or while they're happening, useful idiots of imperialism smear you as a "conspiracy theorist" or "tankie"
The Respectable Liberals at the NY Times and a lot of other useful idiots (including a sizeable number of anarchists and fake "leftists" who demonized Evo Morales and whitewashed what was obviously a US-backed coup) have the blood of Indigenous Bolivian civilians on their hands.
Now a lot of "progressive" journalists in the US who demonized Evo Morales, falsely portrayed him as "authoritarian," and downplayed the obvious US role in the Bolivia coup are doing a 180 and pretending they opposed it all along, because the NY Times gave them the green light
.@BrasilWire spells it out perfectly: Western media outlets ignore and erase US imperialism in the present day, only to later acknowledge it in hindsight, when it's too late and the damage is done.

See: Bolivia, Chile, Brazil, Venezuela, Syria, Iraq, etc.

The NY Times was key in the 1973 US coup in Chile, printing lies to justify overthrowing democratically elected Marxist President Allende and installing murderous far-right dictator Pinochet.

Then a year later the NYT admitted it was based on lies.

Oops!
So-called leftists like pro-imperialist "socialist" @JacobinMag did their part in setting the stage for the fascist coup in Bolivia, printing numerous pieces over years attacking Evo Morales and his party MAS.

Then after the coup they did a convenient 180
Mainstream journalists like Jorge Ramos, whose personal brand is built around superficial opposition to Trump, pushed the lie of "fraud" in Bolivia to justify Trump's fascist coup.

But @JorgeRamosNews will always fail up because he's a tool of imperialism
Billionaire-funded "Human Rights Watch" also supported the fascist military coup in Bolivia. Director @KenRoth falsely claimed there was "electoral fraud," calling elected President Evo a "strongman"

@HRW is a tool of imperialism—it was doing its real job
