If I was a CM in KP,Punjab,or Sindh(badly COVID19 hit Provinces) I would NOT repeat NOT have cared a fig whether the Federal Govt had ordered a lockdown,or not,and would have done what would have been best for my Province.If necessary,I would have closed my Provincial Borders too
I would have done everything to convince the PM and CMs on why that kind of a firm action was necessary.I would have done my utmost to make the top echelon of the country agree to a national plan.BUT if they wouldnt listen to reason I would go do what was best for my Province.
This is only possible when Pakistan begins to have real life autonomous Chief Ministers. I can say with all the emphasis at my command that Pakistan has never EVER had CMs who have been their own men.They, in fact, become CMs because of their compromises before they take oath
Everyone who reads this must ask himself,or herself,about all the Provincial CMs of today whether there is any of them who can take even the slightest initiative without being asked to do that.Anyone? Including Sindh they are all proxy CMs imposed to sign everything put to them
I now ask all right thinking Pakistanis and I know for sure that most Pakistanis are right thinking people a simple question.Can you imagine,in your wildest imagination,that Pakistan which is devoid of leadership at all levels can handle a crisis like the COVID19 pandemic?Can it?
In World WarII a German General on the Russian Front wanted to withdraw under pressure to save casualties.Adolf Hitler furiously disallowed it.The Gen in his reply to Hitler thru the GeneralStaff said“Tell that Austrian Corporoal for now I will use my head later he can have it”.
Thats the kind of leadership Pakistan requires in these challenging times wherein from Chairmen of Union Councils up to the CMs people take good and effective decisions without having to look over their shoulders out of incompetence or lack of decisiveness. #LeadershipMatters
To end, let me say that Pakistan’s hierarchy has been stuffed with pygmies in all fields of national life which is why we are in this state.Straightforward people with initiative,dash,guts are weeded out early in their careers by the well entrenched pygmies. #LeadershipMatters
Pakistan must look for people who can bring about massive reforms in all spheres of national life. By all I mean all.Political,bureaucratic,judicial, military,constitutional et all kind of sweeping reforms quickly framed through consensus and speedily implemented is our only hope
