In the span of one week my office has received over 30,000 emails, calls, and messages. The overwhelming demand from Portlanders is that our current policing system is rife with inequities and that needs to change NOW. (Thread - 1/7)

This Wednesday, June 10th, City Council will be voting to approve the FY 2020-21 budget. and I will be introducing a series of amendments in response to the collective call for action.

☑️ Defund the Gun Violence Reduction Team (GVRT)
☑️ Eliminate the 8 positions Special Emergency Reaction Team
☑️ Defund the School Resource Officers

☑️ Stop using Cannabis Tax Funds to fill funding gaps for the Traffic Division
☑️ Reappropriate $4.8 million from defunding the specialty units to fund Portland Street Response, a new unarmed, non-police first response option.
