City of Fresno’s budget meeting ( in process) Motion to add $100,000 to City Attorney’s office for research into Community Policing. City Clerk’s office: a small 6 person staff. Do a lot of small important tasks and compliance. Managed the current Zoom meetings due to COVID.
Future: updating agenda management software , digitize historic data; 246 resolutions and 83 ordinances this year. Requesting $174,000 this year ( compiled pre-Covid.) @Esmeralda_Soria is there any savings? A: only from an unfilled employee spot. Soria: clerk’s office is the hub
for connecting to our constituents. Digitizing records shows transparency. Lighting work in Council chambers begins this week. Zoom will be continued after opening chambers to public. Jim Schaad: Social distancing improvements are being done as well. Motion to do ADA and Micro-
-fiche items as they are one time improvements. Soria: COVID-19 could pay for zoom preparations ? A: no but translations could. Soria: more meetings occurred due to Covid. We should get some of clerk’s office salary reimbursed. Public: @LisaYFlores1 approves any funding for this
department as they always go above and beyond. Next : Cesar Casamayor: Agrees with Lisa. Clerk’s office is easy to work with. What about liason to other Department and how to get information from them? Next: @TaubGVWire says he also gets good service from Clerk’s office.
@MiguelArias_D3 jokes he wil send a bill to GV Wire for the Clerk’s help 😆They are breaking for Lunch now. Back at 1:30 Image
Council is back from lunch break. Finance is first up this afternoon. No PowerPoint made for this like in morning’s session with Attorney&Clerk office @MiguelArias_D3 would like a more formal presentation for Council and Public to get a better idea. Hard enough to do via Zoom.
City Manager said this is a budget roll over until September so formal presentation isn’t needed at this time. Arias disagrees as we face formidable situation we have ahead of us. Motion approved to move finance to Thursday. 7-0 Jane Sumpter clarifies that Finance, Fire &
Information to Thursday? A: yes. Police Department will be Monday. Arias: we are weighing option of budget meetings to Saroyan Theater to allow Easier Social Distancing in a larger space. And with that Motion that prematurely ends the Budget meeting earlier than expected !
