There have been a couple of statements I've made over the past few days that have been misunderstood and misinterpreted. Particularly regarding 'Black Lives Matter' and the persistence of racism in the USA and UK.

I try to communicate clearly, but intention is often lost...
I unequivocally condemn ALL racism in ALL directions and always have.

I have also never denied its existence. On the contrary, I've spoken out against it many times.

Anybody who has followed me for a while or knows me personally knows that this is true.
I condemn police brutality and always have. I spoke out against the killing of George Floyd before it was 'popular' to do so.

I even made a 16 minute video about it that 40,000+ watched, as well as several social media posts to help get the word out when it happened.
My criticism of BLM (the organisation) is based on some of their end goals, methods, and lack of financial transparency.

These goals I don't support include
- abolishing the police
- disrupting the nuclear family
- dismantling capitalism

These are radical and dangerous IMHO.
Given some context, I assumed it to be a given that I am 100% on board with the STATEMENT 'black lives matter'.

In fact, being openly pro-life, I agree with that statement MORE than many people do.

I don't want innocent black people killed by any means, any time, in any place.
I'm also not a fan of performative gestures, self-flagellation, nor virtue signalling.

I find it disingenuous, narcissistic and hollow.

I'm a fan of honestly discussing and diagnosing societal problems and finding tangible solutions.

This requires risking being 'offensive'.
That said, I understand that without context, certain things I say could be considered 'insensitive' or 'lacking nuance'.

Particularly on this medium.

I like to spark discussions and individual tweets don't represent my entire viewpoint on a given issue. That's impossible.
I think 95% of you already understand this, but my tweets often reach beyond the confines of Twitter (more than I knew), so it's something I'll have to be wary of in the future.

It's not my intention to increase division, polarisation, nor hostility.

Quite the opposite!
In hindsight, I would have worded a few things differently. But it's a learning point.

If a 1 million people see or hear something, there will be 1 million different interpretations.

I'll keep being me. But it's something I'll be more weary of.

It's all love. Always! ✌🏾
