Fauci said that HCQ was unproven and reports of success were anecdotal — BUT that if he had a family member with the virus, he'd prescribe it and he would enter a clinical trial if he caught it. This was turned into "Fauci said it's worthless."

Track down what Fauci actually said, and it's "some reports would make CFR 2% but those aren't necessarily correct, and the real CFR may be between 0.1 and 1 percent."

There was a short fad for saying Fauci was lying about that too, OMG it's not like the flu no one should be saying that! But then he was agreeing with something Trump said, so it didn't have legs.

It was literally published based on a scam company using scam data. But Trump had said HCQ was good, so it was believed — at first.
