What would you do if you found out your child was viewing pornography?

You’re probably thinking “my kid doesn’t have access to that” or “my kid wouldn’t look at that”.

If that’s what you’re thinking then there is a good chance that you’d be wrong.

Thread. 1/?
The average age of a child the first time they see pornography on the internet is 11 years old. Yes, that’s the average, which means there are still lots of kids younger than 11 that are viewing hard core pornography online.
2/?
Keep in mind that kids don’t have to be looking for pornography; it is programmed to find them. That’s how social media and the internet works. The algorithms work AGAINST our kids, not with them.
3/?
This is why you need to be using a parent monitoring app to help assure that your child is safe and to be sure you know what/when/what you need to be talking to your kid about.
4/?
We use Bark in our home (see comments for details). It quite literally impossible to monitor your kids online and social media usage yourself. You will miss too much, things that can change your child.
5/?
The following is an advertisement from New Zealand but it absolutely extends us here in the US.

Don’t ignore the fact that you’re child has free access things that you likely don’t want them to see.

Be proactive. Educate yourself about what they might see.
6/?
Talk to them.
