I attended a future faculty development program for marginalized prospective faculty at a large R1 land grant Uni.

Constantly there were tenured faculty, often white women, but also other POC, telling BIPOC students about "fit" unironically.

#FitIsBullshit because departments will keep a known abuser in their ranks while saying a black candidate just doesn't "fit".

Fit is bullshit because departments will keep someone with a stack of student complaints but a queer candidate just doesn't "fit". 2/
#FitIsBullshit because colleges will tout their "human development" programs as progressive while disabled candidates just don't "fit". 3/
#FitIsBullshit because universities will champion "diversity and inclusion" initiatives and push all those candidates that just don't "fit" in their fields into D&I offices. A segregated spectacle of neoliberal performative "equity". 4/
