Day 14: Sharing my Covid-19 experience. Started with a slight runny tummy, thought it was nothing. For 2 days I started feeling very cold, second day a little more severe than the first day. Slight body aches, but I thought it was just the cold.
Left work early the Friday. Keep in mind that my temperature was taken daily (I dont trust those things anymore) and it was never more than 36.2, some days below 36. Got home, took a hot shower, Corenza C & Panado, nothing helped. The weekend was rough. Body aches, sweats,
freezing cold. One moment feeling fine, the next moment like something is taking over your body. Then my throat felt sore and it looked red inside. After this, the shortness of breath started. I have asthma and couldn't even inhale my pumps properly.
Went to the doctor, got tested (throat swab)The throat swab is uncomfortable, but I heard that the nose swab is 10 times worse. Doctor called me the next day to say that I tested positive for covid19. My heart sank.😔 I have 3 kids whom I have not seen for a while, and this meant
that I could not see them for another while. The shortness of breath got worse..I woke up feeling like something is heavy on my chest. My husband took me to hospital where they were amazing. Blood pressure check done, heart monitor & oxygen levels checked. Doctor asked me if I am
anxious, and of course I felt like I was going to die because in the news its warnings upon warnings for people with co-morbidities, and with so many people dying, that is all you think about at this stage. I was put on drips, got some meds for anxiety and doc told us to get more
medication. I was on meds for 2 more days (of course I continued taking them) and I felt completely fine. I could breath better, slight tightness, but everything else gone. No more sweats, no more body aches, no more anything. The meds I used are as follows:
Prednisone & Monte-air (this is mainly for the tight chest), Panado - paracetamol is important, Sinutab (the day, non drowsy one) and Sinutab extra strong for the night, I took CalC Vita every day, still do. Took Andolex-C pastilles for the throat.
We ate home cooked meals that contained a lot of vegetables. Ate a lot of strawberries, they are high in vitamin C, pineapple, oranges, naartjies, and drank lemon water every morning and every night. Ate avocado with all breakfasts.
My husband also tested at the hospital and his test was positive too. He also freaked out a bit & we were prescribed anxiety meds called tranqipam. This helped a lot to shake that anxiety. We sat in the sun daily for 20 to 30 mins to get some vitamin D.
We've received so many messages, calls & prayers daily; this has been amazing❤🙏🏽Even praying with people on the phone. 🥰 Drink lots of water and get a lot of rest. The waiting when you feel healed gets to you, as you can't just go outside.
Find things that you love to keep you busy, like books or puzzles, etc. Stay washing your hands often, even if you have not been outside, sanitize surfaces in your home as often as you can. There's a stigma going about the virus, and seeing the infection and death stats daily is
scary. Feed your body with vitamins & nutritious meals, rest and take care of yourself. This is just my experience. I am not a doctor. It's not to scare anyone, but for people to know what to expect. My husband experienced none of the symptoms that I experienced.
He only felt a little congestion in the nose for a few days, and loss of smell which resulted in loss of taste. So everyone's bodies are handling this differently. I hope this can help someone and more people speak about this.
People should start sharing how to fight this thing. Having little to no symptoms, to full on symptoms. Wishing everyone a blessed Sunday. Wash your hands, wear your mask & take care❤❤❤ Below is what I received from a friend👇🏽 #Covid_19SA
