The draft Executive Order disregards the 1st Amendment & improperly attempts to circumvent Congress by rewriting the law that underlies much of our modern Internet. It mischaracterizes existing law to punish platforms whose ability to curate content is constitutionally protected.
That this EO appears to be the President’s personal retaliation against Twitter for marking a tweet of his for fact-checking gives us no confidence that the process created by the EO is intended or likely to produce fair results.
The First Amendment, as well as Section 230, protects the right of platforms to make editorial decisions about content they host, and those protections help support a free and informed public debate, online and in everyday life.

For COVID-19 contact tracing technology, proximity-only apps (based on Bluetooth) are more privacy-preserving than apps that use location (based on GPS or cell tower data).

States and public health authorities should avoid any apps that use location.

In its report on Section 512 of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), the Copyright Office has incorrectly determined that the only groups whose concerns should be addressed are those of large tech companies and major rightsholders.
The solutions it proposes are in the service of tilting the "balance" of Section 512 towards rightsholders, ignoring the users who will actually bear the brunt of these policies.
For example, the proposal to terminate someone’s Internet access—at any time, but especially now—is a hugely disproportionate response to unproven allegations of copyright infringement.
