I see most libertarians I know openly applauding the gay/trans workplace decision, and most religious cons pretty upset about it. So just for myself, I'll say I'm not wildly thrilled with the outcome. It's a bit harder for me than the cake case, but perhaps not so different.
I abhor discrimination of all kinds, but I don't generally think something should be illegal just because I personally don't like it. Whether protections should be expanded strikes me as a legitimate public policy question for Congress, rather than the Court.
I think Gorsuch's argument—gay and trans are already covered under "sex" because their sex is an underlying part of the discrimination—is by no means crazy but I'm not quite sold. (In general I tend to side with Gorsuch more than Kavanaugh; this time, perhaps not.)
I think giving employees more opportunities to weaponize discrimination laws against their colleagues and employers has a lot of worrisome tradeoffs. There are bigoted bosses who deserve lawsuits, but there are also some entitled, difficult, and unmanageable people out there.
Is there any limiting principle on what should be considered a protected class? Again, this is a question ideally legislators would take up, rather than the Court.
Believe me when I say that every fiber of me being wants to go "Yasss Gorsuch, slay supreme kween" alongside everybody else! But I don't know if I'm on board here.
