As a grassroots group, we have and continue to be held up and sustained by community care and relationships. Again and again, we are witness to the power of the people when we combine and leverage our shared strengths and resources. We can and we do go far, together.
For those waking up and feeling compelled to make monetary donations, we encourage you to seek out and connect with GRASSROOTS, PEOPLE-LED groups - those of us who live and organize on the ground.
Because of capitalism, we live in a country where non-profit organizations have become an industrial complex of their own, hoarding thousands to millions of public dollars per year to fund their services and staff...
... - services and staff that maintain their relevance through the maintenance of capitalism and systematic oppression.
Don't believe the hype - there is enough resources to ensure every person is housed and supported wholesomely.
Unfortunately, generations of policies and practices that have concentrated wealth and access to a few, coupled with centuries-long institutions of racism, ableism, and patriarchy have erected a society defined by colonization, competition, exploitation, and marginalization.
And in this society, social services providers and non-profit organizations have become arms of a system that deliberately creates disparity and dependency to ensure its longevity.
In a world where we are all free, where we have equitable access to the means to live and feed ourselves, social services and non-profits become obsolete.
Mutual aid has, for so long, looked like us shuffling our dollars between each other while white generational wealth accumulates.
In a world where we're all free and have equitable access to the means to live and feed ourselves, mutual aid has the opportunity to transform beyond surviving.
TPA has and will continue to reinvest our resources into the people. Let us invest in PEOPLE POWER, LIBERATION, & INDEPENDENCE.
