I’m off Twitter today but I want to address folks in my mentions about my exchange last night with @Lecrae.

Folks are asking if I watched the entire video. I did. Lecrae does not pushback on the notion of “white blessing”. He actually begins to use it interchangeably afterwards.
Lecrae deleted tweets left and right last night so I don’t know what’s still up or not but he got on here to defend Lou by essentially saying “he could’ve chosen better words but he’s learning.”
Then Lecrae said no one has a reason to be angrier than him but he’s choosing to lead with grace and love. He then went on to say how *he* is the one putting his career and livelihood on the line to fight for us.
A sister @_FattyBratty checked his hubris and called cishet Black men like him the weakest link. And the voice and courage Lecrae couldn’t find to check a White man magically appeared to check a sister.
Seeing that and reeling from the day Black women had yesterday, where we collectively grieved the fact that time and time again, we show up for Black men only to be harmed, in various ways by them, I got pissed and said what I said.
Lecrae responded and I did too.
He later apologized and I responded to the apology.
If you can’t call out the White man in front of you for trying to assuage his own privilege so it makes him feel better about being part of the problem, keep that same energy with the Black women who call your ass out.
I stand by what I said and echo Sis. Black evangelicals like Lecrae are the weakest links because their proximity to/affinity for Whiteness will never let them hold White people fully accountable for how they participate in and perpetuate racism.
Dan and Lou were wildly racist throughout the entire talk. It’s a subtle, benevolent racism cloaked in church-speak that they know a dude like Lecrae won’t call out because: 1) he doesn’t have the range and 2) he’s just not going to do it.
Leading with love and grace does not mean being a doormat for White supremacy. It doesn’t mean accepting gentler forms of racism because White people are “just now realizing what it means to be White”.
Leading with love and grace means correcting your White faves in the spirit of the revolutionary Jesus your ass found a few years ago and in honor of the Black lives you claim to be fighting for.
For those asking me why I didn’t check Lou Giglio for the comment since he said it, checking White people for saying dumb shit is White folks’ job.

Lou pastors in Black ass Atlanta, claims to have Black friends and still chose his “blessing” in that moment.

Y’all got it.
I am much more interested in holding the men in my community accountable. Because when they decide—for whatever reason—to take seats at them tables and let wild shit like THAT fly, we can’t let it stand.
And to offer no real correction to what Lou said in the moment, get on this internet to justify it with some arrogantly wild shit and then break bad with sisters who told you about yourself is EXACTLY the bullshit we say Black men do on here and in real life every single day.
Cishet Black Christian men have long been telling on themselves but since the quarantine and with these recent uprisings, they have really shown themselves to be a true problem with their refusal to remove themselves from the center of every damn thing.

They refuse to listen.
Anyway, I’m done.

I don’t get how, in 2020, Black evangelicals still exist but whatever.

May the Lord bless and keep you with that.
