It's been a hell of a few months for transport. The idea of low traffic neighbourhoods - allowing access by car but not rat running - has really taken off. To help explain the context in different areas, TfL have just released the ‘Strategic Neighbourhoods Analysis’ [THREAD 1/7]
Firstly, it sets some basic context, like how many people live in each neighbourhood and how many live without a car [2/7] ImageImage
It then explores how big an issue rat running may be, using modelled traffic data and actual walking/cycling casualties over the last three years [3/7] ImageImage
Next up is the potential for cycling, based on modelled flows if people cycled their shorter trips. This is combined with the temporary Strategic Cycling Analysis to show how neighbourhoods fit in with routes [4/7] Image
It also includes data on things like the number of schools, deprivation and age [5/7] ImageImageImageImage
Finally, the Strategic Neighbourhoods Analysis is summed up in an overview map, based on a filtering score and general score, giving a broad indication of the potential across London [6/7] Image
And if nothing else, it’s one colourful ride through London! [7/7] #StreetSpaceLDN
