.@JohnCornyn was shocked when I said structural racism is a feature of every American institution & that we all have implicit bias. It’s not controversial – it's the truth. And we have to acknowledge this truth if we are to create real change, achieve justice, & heal as a nation.
And @JohnCornyn probably hasn’t made the connection, but he was Texas state AG when he gave a corrupt officer the Lawman of the Year award for a set of bogus drug convictions that my team and I ultimately overturned in Tulia, TX in 2003.

And here’s what I told @CoryBooker: Institutional racism is about systems & policies that have built-in bias that produce biased outcomes...No way to look at our criminal legal system in 2020 and not see how institutional racism has infected it at every level & stage of the game.
