Panel discussion With Drs. @MGottliebMD , Haas, Yilmaz. Stay tuned for #MedEd pearls from @MacPFD on #CollaborativeWriting!
Pearls:
1. Be open to learning from others. Ask ❓
2. Use accountability: Collaborative writing helps give positive peer pressure! 📝
3. You can have a broader network of collaborators by moving things online through GDocs, etc!
4. Comment bubbles in GDocs= tag colleagues!
5. Address conflicts off text-based platform to a LIVE discussion to meet halfway!
6.🤔 Reflect on who you work best with!
7. Set expectations and deadlines AHEAD of time! ⌛️ Make sure it works well for everyone!
8. Give an example of what your vision is to your team! This helps them know what you want from your team! Easier to get to the end product if you know what it looks like. The path there doesn't matter (there are lots of way!)
9. Dyads in writing are KEY to help mentor writing!
10. "Academic prenup"- have the awkward conversation about authorship order!!💍
11. Be willing to change author order based on contribution! Have a grid for people to write themselves into!
12. Ghosting authors: 👻 Try to reach out! Let them know what others are doing. See what type of contribution they can offer.
13. Great resource for Authorship order: bit.ly/2Yc4bhF
14. For your papers/projects- 🏃‍♀️"Run your list"! This will you up-to-date for each project & what needs to be done to move it along. Do this Weekly!
15. Figure out the rate-limiting step. If its YOU, move this up to help move it along. If its someone else, nudge them!
16. If there's one that is weighing on your psyche- do this first to get it off your shoulders! This will help you feel free & relaxed! (Eat that Frog 🐸)
17. Train yourself to task switch into writing when you have free time (bt zoom meetings, etc)
18. Storyboard/Outline is 🔑
Take-home point for @mcpfd Collaborative Writing:

Many hands make light work! This is the art of Collaborative writing!
