Our daily update is published. We’ve now tracked 26.5 million tests, up a whopping 584k from yesterday, an all-time high.

And for the first time, the 7-day average has crossed the 500k minimum daily tests recommended by @HarvardGH. Really good news at the national level.
States reported more than 32k cases today and 31k cases yesterday, the highest numbers we’ve seen since May 1.

Mississippi hasn’t updated its numbers in two days, so we expect we’re missing 600-800 cases there, based on their previous updates.
Are these new case jumps the result of more testing? We would expect some of them to be. To understand more, we look at regional patterns.

Where case counts are rising mainly because of a testing bump, we should see the % positive go down. They are not falling everywhere.
Here are the states reporting more than 500 new cases today.

Worth noting TN set a new record high yesterday.
MS had growing cases and their reporting broke down. OK set a new record 6/18.
(NM's data looks good in recent weeks.)
Since last Sunday, 20% of the reported tests in Arizona have come back positive.

Right next door in New Mexico, only 2.5% of tests are coming back positive.
Florida continues not to report current hospitalizations, but it would not be a surprise if their numbers look a lot like the Texas chart.
Three more states of interest: California, Oklahoma, and Georgia.

(GA had reporting problems during that May 24 week, which is why the numbers look strange.)
States reported 630 deaths. We are still seeing a solid national decline.

Death reporting lags approximately 28 days from symptom onset, according to CDC models that consider lags in symptoms, time in hospital, and the death reporting process.
