Darryl in Chicago gives his thoughts on the situation in the city -- would recommend watching this one
Another one that I did not remotely “cherry-pick,” this time on the West Side. Notice he says he WANTED the National Guard sent in, to protect the businesses that are still shuttered three weeks later. But the Guard was not deployed to these areas of the city
I have now spoken to numerous older black people in Chicago and elsewhere who believe out-of-town whites initially instigated the rioting, after which local blacks capitalized on the situation and escalated. One woman even blamed “antifa” by name
CPD officer mentioned to me being shocked at how little media coverage the riots in these neighborhoods received -- an opinion locals tend to agree with. The scale of it is crazy. But journalists apparently don’t want to be perceived as “discrediting the movement” or whatever
These could very well have been the most widespread simultaneous riots EVER in US history, at least within an extremely contained period of time (weekend of May 29 to June 1, scattered incidents afterwards) but the media coverage has simply not conveyed the scale of what occurred
