This officer has actually been criminally charged before - which as we know is incredibly unusual - but was acquitted.

The cop in this video, David Afanador, has already cost NYC $70,000 in payouts.
The civil law suit arising out of the case in which he was criminally charged is still pending. Altho he was acquitted, that will no doubt cost the city a lot of money.

The other point, which is critical, @NYGovCuomo literally just signed a law making chokeholds criminal on June 12, a week ago.
NYPD has banned chokeholds since 1993.

And the officer has been suspended without pay. No words yet on criminal charges.
