Another energetic night here in Marcus-David Peters Circle. Music is loud, fireworks are frequent and many are relaxing in the grass.
People are dancing in the grass, and projections on the Lee statue are starting now. I’m sitting on the barricades with some friends. Say hi if you see me tonight!

Police have arrived at the Stuart statue. The demonstrators with rope scattered immediately. Officers are now telling people to leave the area.

Officers in riot gear have arrived at the J.E.B. Stuart statue, where 10 minutes ago protesters tried to remove the memorial with rope.
More than 35 officers are facing around 100 demonstrators in Stuart Circle. It’s tense at the moment, and officers are calling this an unlawful gathering.
The officer in the middle just told protesters to “stop talking shit.”

Officers shuffle to keep the line strong. They’ve cleared the base of the statue and continue to stand ready with riot shields.
A driver who was not part of demonstrations picked the wrong time to take Monument Ave home. Police opened a hole in the line to let him pass.
