A 1999 audit found they didn't even record data to distinguish transsexualism. Instead they mixed in never-trans GNC kids in order to "prove" most "desisted" so none should have interventions.

@SkLumos @JABenson_Author @CritFacts Eventually, peer clinics, years after they started providing agonists (🇳🇱 in 1989-US in 2005) got fed up with GIDS saying it was unsafe because GIDS couldn't tell which patients would remain trans, so gave them a standardised diagnostic test. GIDS trialed it, & capitulated
@SkLumos @JABenson_Author @CritFacts But immediately disgruntled staff & their friends started to campaign to reverse that, still convinced, after 16 failed years, their talk therapies might eventually cure a patient if they had no alternative, seeing trans adulthood as a bad outcome, or even sinful.

@SkLumos @JABenson_Author @CritFacts If you accept an RCT cannot be done then I hope you'll accept the normal approach to treatments where the most rigorous trials are impossible, which is to accept carefully & repeatedly done studies of the highest rigour possible as sufficient proof of efficacy & safety.
