This Wednesday (24 June, 5pm to 6.30pm) @BessemerSociety hosts a virtual 'Luminary Drinks Webinar' with @HarwellCampus entitled:

"Solving Global Problems one Crisis at a Time...Next the Environment? How Catalysis Research is Engineering Potential Solutions” Image
Our first keynote speaker is Bill David, Professor of Materials Chemistry @OxfordChemistry, Senior Fellow @RutherfordApLab and Fellow of @St_Catz. He has made significant contributions to the development of neutron and X-ray powder diffraction. Image
He was part of the team that developed the first rechargeable Lithium Ion Battery, and following his discovery of new ammonia-decomposition catalysts, his research is in materials that facilitate safe and effective utilisation of #ammonia as an energy vector for energy storage. Image
Charlotte Williams is Professor of Inorganic Chemistry @OxfordChemistry and her research focuses on the synthesis of novel catalysts with an expertise in organometallic chemistry and polymer materials chemistry. Image
The Williams Research Group focuses on new oxygenated polymers and in developing methods to prepare, re-use and recycle polymers as products from bio-refining, industrial wastes and biomass to improve sustainability. She is the scientific founder of @EconicTech. Image
Dr Peter Bishop is Technology Manager, Catalysts and Materials @Johnson_Matthey. He is responsible for the catalysis and materials department at the central research facility. His area of expertise is in nanoparticle synthesis of PGM and Coinage metals. Image
His group is engaged in a range of applied research areas such as energy storage (batteries), catalytic, nano-material and glass/ceramic based programs where the emphasis is on materials synthesis and related chemical/physical properties. Image
The event is open to @BessemerSociety members and @HarwellCampus invitees.
