Just to level set here for a second: the biggest story this weekend was that the Attorney General pushed out a prosecutor responsible for investigating the crimes of those close to the President, but we're mostly talking about how nobody showed up at Trump's Covid party.
Even when @realDonaldTrump is losing, he's kind of winning because we all talk about the world as if the things Trump wants to matter actually matter.

The stinking, in-your-face corruption and criminality of this administration always takes a backseat to the circus.
Anyway, here's my colleague @joanwalsh on the total lunacy of what we just saw go down between Barr and Berman.

AND, it looks like @Mimirocah1 is going to be my new District Attorney!!

This is the race I cared most about tonight because... well, I'm a guy who cares about police brutality and I know that you can't do anything about the cops until you elect better DAs.
I'm also happy because @Mimirocah1 and @JamaalBowmanNY were the first candidates I've ever publicly "endorsed" in a town where I live and, if she had lost, being a limited-purpose public person on the *wrong* side of my local prosecutor was NOT something I was looking forward to.
When I first moved up here, I was driving home from the Metro-North and cops tailed me all the way home. I got to my driveway and they stopped in front of my house. They asked me "Do you live here?"
I, calmly and affably, said "yes. With three other people who look just like me."

I've had to wait longer, face down on the shoulder of a highway, with a cop's knee in my back as his cop buddy allegedly ran my plates because I matched "the description" than this cop had to wait for her McMuffin.
AND... the takeaway from my whole black ass family was that it was MY FAULT because I gave the cop "lip" when he stopped me.
Pulled over and put his snout in my car and said he "smelled marijuana." I said "I guess I should tell the car wash to stop using the marijuana soap?"
*That's* what pissed him off. I didn't even have time to get the smug off my face before he was dragging me out of the car.
And my fam was all "I told you about driving in Kokomo [Indiana]" and "How many times do we have to tell you to watch your fresh mouth?"

Oh god, are we doing the thing where somebody points out that the we created slavery and white people go "THEY HAD SLAVES IN AFRICA" and we have to explain that CHATTEL SLAVERY, where your children are BORN INTO slavery with no option for freedom, is a European colonial INVENTION
You want to know why Rome was constantly fighting wars? It's largely because they needed more slaves. They had to conquer new slaves because they couldn't BREED THEM from current slaves because that's not how Roman slavery worked.
The HORRIFIC thought that a non-slave would rape a slave and that child would be ALSO A SLAVE was an ANATHEMA to pretty much everybody in all times until European colonial masters said "screw it."
And NOBODY took that ball and ran with it like the Americas.
