Things to prepare for when traveling in Zimbabwe: Thread

Challenges are meant to be overcome. But you can’t overcome what you don’t know. So this is why we have created these pointers to help you out plan for your travels.

Read carefully.
1. PRICE. You’ll realize that most things here don’t come cheap, from accommodation, transport, food etc. So prepare in advance, secure contracts in time to cover yourself from price changes. Have some extra money on you in case of the unknown.
2. ACCESSIBILITY. Some places may pose challenges for you to access them. Eg when going to Binga, it’s not as easy. Same with Mtarazi Falls in Nyanga, or Gonarezhou National Park. Roads can be bad, especially in the rainy season. Make sure you vehicle is fit for the road.
3. Bad Customer Service. Some of the places you’ll go to may not be as welcoming. You’ll meet grumpy staff; maybe frustrated with the economy too. They may give you some terrible service or even snap at you. Calm down yourself, and keep your happy spirits.
4. Water/Electricity Challenges. Some places may not have running water continuously, their tanks may be empty at times. Sometimes electricity is not available because of load shedding and some facilities do not have back up power. It can be devastating.
5. Connectivity Problems. Some places have poor signal, so when you go there, you may not be able to make calls home or to upload your latest travel pics whilst you are out there with nature. It can be an inconvenience too, especially when it’s urgent need for you to communicate.
These are some of the things you are likely to encounter, but depending on your attitude, you can turn them into an exciting part of your travel experience. What else do you think are challenges associated with travel in Zimbabwe?
