Here are some of their Applications in our everyday life.

The TCA cycle plays a major role in the BREAKDOWN of organic fuel molecules (such as glucose & some other sugars, fatty acids, & some amino acids)

And to those that are still in Year 2, here are some things to know about TCA Cycle :

- It's an aerobic process hence,

Hence oxygen is required.

- The cycle occurs in the Mitochondria of the cell.

- Each glucose molecular net 2 pyruvic acids but the Krebs cycle breakdown 1 pyruvic acid at a time.

- It begins & ends with Oxaloacetic acid.

- It is an 8 steps cycle that begins with

the Acetyl CoA (ie a product of glycolysis is picked up by Oxaloacetic acid)

- Lipids, Proteins & Carbohydrates is mostly be metabolized in the TCA cycle.

Cellular Respiration -> Glucose -> Glycolysis -> TCA cycle -> aerobic & Anaerobic

In Anaerobic Respiration (process) -> Fermentation -> Lactic acid

In Aerobic Respiration -> Pyruvate -> Mitochondria <-- Electron Transport Chain -> 36 ATP (Energy)
