@subhash_kak Sir, did you read Ballantyne’s book of modern science on top of the Nyāya system? He points out European scholars he was in correspondence with. He discusse difficulties in satisfying the Nyāya scholars due to the differences in the inference method.

@subhash_kak Ballantyne opined that the Nyāya system is mindless drudgery, and the Hindus didn’t advance beyond the “commentorial stage” in mental evolution. He calls the rigor of Nyāya as “narrow but interminable orbit of an ox going around in an oil-mill”.

@subhash_kak It is important to critique this book, as it is a scholarly work and greatly influenced the latter devolution of Nyāya and Indian Śāstras in the scholarly education of India, and ultimately their disappearance in a racist imperial rule.
