There are surprisingly few PG moments from Green Wing involving Sue White. (She is prone to swearing, sexual assault/involuntary fertilization, & attempted homicide.) But she does a mean Kylie Minogue.

The camel doesn't get quite enough attention in this montage, but I like it anyway.

In case you're wondering how formative Sue White was for my upbringing, here are things I still routinely say or think in everyday conversation:

"I have an unlimited budget"
"I'm tempted 'cuz I'm all fired up but no thanks I'd rather lick my own armpit"

"Thank you for the party, Doctor Trodd"
"Lion's mane, truly the king of beasts"
"I am completely shaved"
"She doesn't love you, she'll never love you, she doesn't have a fanny"

If you're OK with non-PG, Sue & Guy have a conversation where she eggs him on by calling him "Mister". In England surgeons prefer Mr. to Dr. as a tradition extending from the Royal Navy. Guy is an anesthetist, not a surgeon, so Mr. is "one above Doctor".

"There are certain times when I have absolutely no scruples whatsoever."

"Name hasn't fooled you, then?" "Fatal RTA" stands for "road traffic accident", someone who died in a car crash. "I waited three days for these. Saves me a fortune."

Forgot all all about it: cameo by John "Last Week Tonight" Oliver in the pilot as a car salesman:

Best forgotten line: "You can't have the Brontë sisters."

Dick Bison on YouTube: "I remember [buying] a full DVD set back in the day, this show got me through some pretty hard times. Give this thing a chance folks, you'll get it after a few episodes, it's really something special."

When this show was new, I was working at a science center & on Saturdays when the offices were empty I would sometimes have a free minute or two to have something playing in the background while I did backups/antivirus/website/PC rebuilds/etc. Green Wing got me through it.

I can't say Green Wing got me through hard times. Sure, I was overworked & underpaid, but I had yet to endure any serious psychological trauma. Series 1 remains a fantastic show and an enduring high point in television history. It's my smoo.

Holy hell, I think this is the entire first season on YouTube.



I spend a jillion dollars buying this on PAL-format DVDs to have this back in the day. No ragerts!
