Anime is so mainstream now it's crazy to think only 10 years ago it was derided and mocked constantly by the American animation industry at large. Y'all really loved it up there on that high horse.
Flash forward to Avengers Infinity War and that one fight on Titan was literally ripped from Dragonball or Naruto.
"It's just so weird!" "The action is good but the writing...?" "There's just no character acting" "it's so choppy and cheap looking"
Honestly I wonder how much of this boiled down to subconscious xenophobia or racism.
