What really bothers me about all this hbo/netflix treatment of animation is the narrative that these shows weren't profitable and thus, cutting them makes sense. (small thread)
We are not business people. Our responsibility as creators/artists was to make great content, the responsibility of the studio/network is to monetize it. Yet we are the ones being punished for the complete failure of another department.

Anime is so mainstream now it's crazy to think only 10 years ago it was derided and mocked constantly by the American animation industry at large. Y'all really loved it up there on that high horse.
Flash forward to Avengers Infinity War and that one fight on Titan was literally ripped from Dragonball or Naruto.
