THREAD - MY VIEW ...............
Vast majority of the public join the Police Force to protect the public and do a very good job of it. You will always get ''bad apples'' in any organization. They need to be weeded out and thrown out.
Years ago I was mugged twice and two men walked into where I worked and stole my handbag. I had my Birth Certificate in my handbag, as I was joining a Pension Scheme that day, so I was extremely upset. On each occasion I phoned the police straight away.
Worked in a Major Investigation Team for some years, who only dealt with paedophile/child killer cases, typing up statements. Every Police Officer/Detective showed me respect whilst I worked there.
My view is no matter who you are, who you think you are, you treat people the way you want to be treated. I've always held that view. The friends I have hold the same outlook on life. Some of them have been my friends since I was a teenager.
And, to show you what a nasty place Twitter can be at times, I had the piss taken out of me for having a job with the Met and not reporting the paedophile who assaulted me at 10. I reported the paedophile BEFORE I took the job!!!!
Police Officers/ex-Police Officers have shown me nothing but support on Twitter. It is members of the public who have taken the piss out of my vulnerability/appearance and even likened me to nazi, because I was sexually assaulted at ten years old.
We live in a world where vast majority of child sex abuse survivors took the horrors to their graves. The world is finally changing and survivors are coming forward in bucket loads. Good for them. Never let anyone silence you. Speaking out, helps others do the same.
Boris Johnson says spending police budgets investigating historic child abuse is ''spaffing money up the wall''. Yes, one of the most disgusting comments I've ever heard and I've heard a lot.
Every person who was sexually abused as a child, deserves a letter from the government explaining to them why -
1. Mandatory reporting hasn't been brought in.
2. Archaic Double jeopardy law wasn't changed, so survivors could get justice and closure, which they so richly deserve!

Change the archaic #doublejeopardy law, so EVERY child sex abuse survivor has a chance of justice/closure.

CHILD SEX ABUSE - If every MP had experienced the absolute terror a child feels when assaulted by a paedophile, they'd be 650 standing up for them ..........
Some child sex abuse survivors can't get justice or closure because the archaic #doublejeopardy law wasn't changed. Put yourself in their shoes for a moment. How would you feel? Doesn't EVERYONE who was sexually abused as a child deserve fair treatment? I think it's appalling!
The first mugger violently pushed me to the ground. I screamed so loud, he ran off. I should have screamed ''mugger'', but I screamed, ''You bastard''. It was the first thing that came into my head.
I'd like to ask @BorisJohnson a question. If one your many children came to you in a few decades time & said they had been sexually abused as a child, would you say investigating it would be ''Spaffing money up the wall'' or would you show them support?
