Min Omolo ka Nyunja. Luo Twitter can I share with you the story of this famous woman?

You surely have heard of the saying 'ARITO MA ANENO MIN OMOLO K'ANYUNJA'.

Sit down and follow:
Arito ma aneno Min Omolo ka Nyunja loosely translates to 'I have waited so much until I saw the mother of Omolo son of Nyunja'. It literally means the person is lamenting at the length of time taken to wait. It's been too much wait!
Do we want to know Omolo or the mother? Ofcoz we are not interested in Omolo. Nobody knows who Omolo was except that he had a mother and the father was Nyunja. So who was this Min Omolo and what did she do to become this famous?

We're getting there now I promise.
Min Omolo ka Nyunja, like any responsible village woman, always took her wares to market for kisuma. Late evening she was often, nearly always, the last to leave the market for home. As others raced home in fear of darkness or rains, Min Omolo always took her time and left last
There's a chance Min Omolo was a slowcoach and lazy at leaving the market. Nobody knows. There's also a chance she was meticulous and employed precision in clearing her work area...she probably even cleaned her work area before leaving for home. Proper woman, this one was!
One thing is clear: Min Omolo was always the last to leave the market late in the evening. As a bystander on the road if you saw Min Omolo ka Nyunja pass by, it only meant there was no other person coming after her. She was the last. Go home! No one else is coming!
So it's become common that if I wait for something for so long I will say arito ma aneno Min Omolo ka Nyunja, I waited for so long until I saw Min Omolo ka Nyunja. In other words there's no hope of my expectations being met. Min Omolo ka Nyunja has already passed by so that's it
This is often used by fare senders who wait until they see Min Omolo ka Nyunja.
I will not be taking questions from the Press today because I also don't know the origin of that story. I will not claim to own it either. Thank you.

END.
