I have arrived at Queen Meave’s Connaught fortress at Rathcroghan. But before we start talking about it, I’ll first visit the entrance to the otherworld - the dreadful cave Oweynacat - the deceivingly innocently named Cave of the Cats #CattleRaid 
This cave is referenced several times in the Cattle Raid. It is the home of the goddess of war and death - the Morrigan who causes all sorts of trouble later on. Magical and greedy pigs live here, also cats #CattleRaid
A dreadfully destructive fairy also lives here who burns Rathcroghan every Halloween. Women in the shape of wolves hide in the cave as well. It truly is an awful place #CattleRaid
A warrior called Cascorach was tasked with clearing the wild women out of the cave “No bother” says he “Be careful Cascorach” said everyone “Wolves, women” he smiled “how hard can that be #CattleRaid
Cascorach sat outside the cave, spear at the ready and eventually three women in the shape of wolves stroll out. “Howya” they say. Cascorach immediately attacked them but he found that his weapon was completely useless. The wolf women just laughed #CattleRaid
Humiliated, Cascorach returned to the fort. “How did you get in?” asked everyone “Shut up” said Cascorach. The following day he returned with a club & sat outside the cave. “Howya” said the wolf women. He attacked them again - again no good. Returned red faced to camp #CattleRaid
Someone whispered “Cascorach, them wolves love music”. Armed with his best spear and his harp, he sat by the cave playing lively airs. “Howya” said the wolf women “that’s grand music - we’d love to dance” #CattleRaid
“Wouldn’t ye enjoy the dancing all the better if you turned yourselves back into humans” suggested Cascorach “Excellent advice” said the wolves. As soon as they did..swooosh.. Cascorach fired his spear “youch!” Cried the wolves/ women (delete as appropriate) vanishing #CattleRaid
A calf strayed into the cave once and was found 40 miles away in Sligo - fact #CattleRaid
