The stories of people who encounter long departed people has never been something I believed in, but I've heard stories from people that left me in awe.
I recently heard one which made me laugh & at the same time marvel at people's stupidity.

Dead people have been rumored to carry out perfectly different lives far away from their original places of birth and death & this has been common knowledge among the elderly in most African societies.

On the subject matter, all you need do is ask and they will be more than happy to indulge you. (Grandparents love recounting their lives' stories and nothing encourages them more than a listening ear)

So they walk into a bar and set eyes on a long dead countryman and they're gripped with instant fear.

Money was also given for their return trip and a little extra for themselves.

In less than no time, it is decided that the money should be used for the betterment of their own family instead of handing it over to the departed man's family.

To anybody and the subject of money exchanging hands was hushed even within the family.
Time went by and these children had grown in leaps & bounds.
Business was booming and expanding at an exponential rate after making use of the dead man's money.
Trips for supplies were made

As usual but there was no encounter whatsoever with the dead man.
Matter of fact, the story was almost non existent in the family because it was becoming forgotten.
On a fateful day 5 years after, brother and sister had returned from their trip and restocked their warehouses

The family woke up to shrieks and cries from neighbors calling their attention to the venomous fire that had engulfed the warehouse and its environ shops.
No one could trace the source of the fire but the heat from the flames was to hot to even approach or rescue any goods

Attempts were made in futility to put out the fires bit it all yielded nothing.
The flame ravaged everything it met in its path, leaving only ashes in its wake
The parents and children watched the fire bring down all they had toiled for in the last 25 years.

And when the fire had nothing more to eat up, it gradually died, leaving the whole place filled with nothing but ash and smoke.
Elders who came out to watch the spectacle were heard saying
"THESE PEOPLE HAVE GRIEVED SOMEBODY THEY MUST APPEASE OR IT'LL GET WORSE"

In spite of all the questions they asked themselves, they believe they were now fair &

Square with the departed guy, and still saw no reason whatsoever for reconciliation or restitution.
It all seemed settled until PEOPLE IN THE FAMILY STARTED DIEING.
This is the only reason for which the story was known to the rest of the people.

Restitution but were turned down repeatedly.
This is how greed & stupidity wiped out an entire generation from the surface of the earth.
Two places known to have departed people living new lives are Panya & the city of Santa Isabel in Equatorial Guinea.

Try not to appear too startled if you happen to meet a departed relative if & when you ever decide to visit these places.
