Remember that several-month period when the media—swooning over Crenshaw's acceptance of a Pete Davidson apology—overlooked that Crenshaw is a far-right Trumpist who lies with nearly the same shocking regularity as his hero, Trump? I do. The question—has media learned its lesson?
PS/ I value Crenshaw's military service. I also appreciate doctors and nurses who serve, and public defenders, and public school teachers—frankly *all* public servants. That has nothing to do with whether the man Crenshaw has chosen to be now contributes to political discourse.
PS2/ Some smart media people gave Crenshaw a platform after the incident with Davidson. What it suggests is that the bar for elected Republicans acting decently is *so low* at this moment in history that being gracious once apologized to is enough to justify mainstream celebrity.
PS3/ I'd suggest a different journalistic practice: maintain the ethics of journalism whatever is going on in the country. A man who lies with the regularity of Crenshaw can't be on TV. It's that simple. If you have to go outside Congress to find Republicans who don't lie, do so.
PS4/ The dangerous reopening phase is Phase 2. Texas went to Phase 2 around May 18. The spike in Texas began thereafter—with the usual lag—and *has* been traced to maskless, stationary, long-duration, non-distanced contacts in Phase 2-reopened businesses. May 1 is a red herring.
PS5/ @DanCrenshawTX is spreading COVID-19 disinformation. He's doing so by telling FNC viewers that there's no difference between indoors and outdoors, stationary and moving, non-mask-wearing and mask-wearing. The *only* danger, says Crenshaw, is a crowd. That's *disinformation*.
